Discover my favorite city spots with these mini guides, distrikt!
distrikt is a side project I started with Julie, at Double Trouble. We both love to travel, but not the way it’s often sold. Today, travel feels like fast food: we’re encouraged to consume as much as possible, as quickly as possible. Same landmarks, same cafés, same crowds. Everything optimized, filtered, TikToked.
So we asked ourselves: what if we took a step sideways?
distrikt is our answer. A collection of small, printed travel guides, each focused on one neighborhood at a time. The idea is simple: explore cities the slow way, walking, observing, meeting people, getting lost a little. We don’t cover whole capitals. We stay local. We go deep. Our first edition is dedicated to the east side of Paris, where we met and lived for years.
We started with a logo, then created a visual universe around it — with little wandering characters, scattered typography, and a playful, modular layout. We printed the guide locally in small batches, launched a mini site, and started building a community through a slow-burn Instagram and a quarterly newsletter called Vadrouilles.
Along the way, we also made some extras:
Limited stickers hidden in orders. Tees for the summer. A free downloadable guide called Hors Saison, to share ideas when you’re not sure where (or when) to go
It’s not perfect, but it’s ours. We’re learning as we go, how to write, edit, print, ship, share, and above all, how to build something that feels right : distrikt is still small, but it’s alive. And the next edition is already on its way.
